gm fam,
Great to see a familiar face.
Here's the honest truth: Most marketers overcomplicate things. Fancy words, complex jargon – it’s a mess out there. We're all guilty of it. Making things more complicated than they need to be. Let's cut through the noise, strip away the excess, and give the people what they want. This week’s newsletter is about one thing… Keeping it Simple.
The Genius Fallacy
Assuming your audience knows every nook and cranny of your space? Think again. You might be the expert, but the average Joe next door is still wondering why he should give a fuck about your company. Tailor your message. Be specific.
It's a common trap many fall into, especially when you’re so balls-deep in your projects. We begin to speak in a language that's only decipherable to those in our inner circle.
It's not just about the tech-savvy elite—it's about everyone. It's about the freelancer in Bali, the artist in Brooklyn, and the developer in Bangalore. Remember, the genius isn't in making complex things more complex; it's about making them comprehensible to all.
Embracing KISS
Ever heard of “Keep It Simple, Stupid”? There’s a reason it's classic advice. No one's got time for a novel when they're just looking for what’s in it for them.
Give it to them straight.
In the fast-paced world of Web3, where attention spans are as fleeting as the latest meme coin, simplicity is your lifeline. So, streamline, simplify, and let your core message shine. In the end, it's the straightforward stories that stick.
Lay it Out, But Keep It Light
We get it; you want to be comprehensive. You want your audience to have all the deets, every piece of the puzzle. But here's a reality: they don’t really give a fuck. Or at least they don’t care enough to read a lengthy, complicated piece of writing. No matter how long you spent on it.
Now, you might be thinking…"But I've got so much cool info to share!" Great, but moderation is key. Always aim for the sweet spot between engaging and overwhelming.
As the legend Steve Jobs put it, “Simple can be harder than complex... But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.” And who are we to argue with a genius? Till next time. 🫡
